The sundry lands of the Faraway Kingdoms each have their own flag based on their founding legend. Here are a couple of examples:
The Red Riding royal line was set by a heroine who tricked a clan of werewolves that had preyed on her tribes, leading them to their doom. The Royal banner reflects this.
When the Princess Snow-White recovered from her poisoning from a poison thorn and disposed the Witch-Queen of the region her descendants took the white rose that poisoned her as their banner.
Kingdom of Lorraland
Empire of Tawny
Tawny troops are distinct anyway but their banner is only revealed on the eve of battle and them rolled away and carried in the commanders chariot when in the event of victory it is unrolled to celebrate the victory of the gods.
Republic of Starakand
The Flag of the Republic represents the Red Redemption, the Priests of which were instrumental in leading the Revolution.
The Imperial Flag of those die-hard Royalist fighting the new regime from exile still has the Sun God on it but under the Crown representing the King of Kings.
BARBARIANS AND NON-HUMANS
Desert Raiders don’t need banners their clans are small enough for them not to be necessary.
Khansmen simple side under the skulls of their former tribal Khans attached to spears untilt heir rot or are destroyed in battle.
Hesclek also do not use banners are such but each clan has horns shaped like totem animals of their communities.
Dwarfs do not use banners but each surviving kraal has a unique tattoo of strips on each kraalmember – this identifies the community, job and standing of each dwarf.
Elves design and fashion banners for each campaign as the whimsy of the Heartgrove Elders takes them. Usually these silken works of art are designed to specifically insult and terrify their enemies. Usual ‘population management’ of Orcs etc; do not merit a banner.
Orcs clans identify themselves through war-paint.
